Day 2 - Delhi
|
After a relaxed breakfast proceed for sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi :
OLD DELHI - A sight-seeing tour of Old Delhi would entail visiting the
Raj Ghat - the memorial site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated; Jama
Masjid - the largest mosque in India and the Red Fort - once the most
opulent fort and palace of the Moghul Empire.
NEW DELHI - An extensive sight-seeing tour of New Delhi would include a
visit to the Humayun's Tomb, the Qutub Minar, a drive along the
ceremonial avenue - Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament
House, the President's Residence and would end with a drive through the
Diplomatic Enclave. Night stay in Delhi.

| Day 3 - Delhi - Agra - Jaipur |
Early
morning pick up from hotel & transfer to railway station to board
the superfast air-conditioned train to Agra. Breakfast in the train.
Arrive Agra in approx. 02 hours & visit the magnificent Taj Mahal -
one of the seven wonders of the world surely the most extravagant
expression of love ever created. 20,000 men laboured for over 17 years
to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife Also visit the Agra
fort - the rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort of Agra stands on the
banks of the river Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor
Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Am (hall of public audience), a
colonnaded hall of red-sandstone with a throne alcove of inlaid marble
at the back, the Emperor heard public petitions. At the Diwan-I-Khas
(hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays
lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded Peacock
Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms
& enjoy a lavish buffet lunch in a 5* hotel in Agra. Later drive to
Jaipur-the fabled “pink city” of the desert named after Jai Singh, the
former Maharaja of Jaipur. This is the only city in the world
symbolizing the nine divisions of the universe through the nine
rectangular sectors subdividing it. The palaces and forts of the
yesteryears, which were witnesses to the royal processions and
splendours are now living monuments enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri -a
perfectly preserved red sandstone “ghost town" which was the estranged
capital of mughal emperor Akbar, built in 1569 and deserted when its
water supply failed. Arrive Jaipur in late evening & transfer to
hotel. Night stay in Jaipur

| Day 4 - Jaipur- Delhi -Shimla |
After
breakfast checkout from hotel & visit the majestic Amber Fort, is
one that cannot be easily described. Ride up on Elephants to the former
capital of the royals set against the backdrop of the wooded hills.
Later visit the City Palace, Palace of Winds also known as Hawa Mahal,
this elaborate building, now little more than a façade, is encrusted
with delicate screen sand carved balconies from which the royal ladies,
confined to their quarters, could sneak views of the outside world.
Past, present and future merge at Jai Singh's observatory, where time
has been accurately measured since the 17th century.Late afternoon
drive back to Delhi (apx 5 Hrs) arrive Delhi and transfer to railway
station to board the train to Kalka ( there is no direct train for
Shimla from Delhi kalka is the nearest railways station for Shimla )
.Overnight in the train.

| Day 5 - Shimla |
| Early
morning, arrive Kalka. Pickup from railway station and drive to Shimla
(3 hrs), perched at 7000 feet above sea level, The heady combinations
of Chill mountain air, orchards and colonial charms still make Shimla a
dream get away. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is free
to explore various scenic sights or visit mall road. (you can also take
a toy train for Kalka Shimla and view the various scenic sights and
natural beauty ) (Optional) . Later tour of Shimla - Kalbadevi Temple,
Jakhu Temple, Hanuman Temple or stop for a while at the beautiful
stained – glass - windows of Christ Church, which was built in the 1850
‘s. Also visit Fagu, Indira Gandhi Holiday Home and enjoy horse riding
(optional) in the apple orchids. Rest of the day is free to explore
various scenic sights or visit mall road and shopping. Night stay in
Shimla. |
| Day 6 - Shimla - Kullu - Manali |
| After
breakfast checkout from hotel and procced for excursion to Kufri a 30
Minutes drive from Shimla, an exotica of nature as a place surrounded
by dense forest and snow caped mountains amidst virgin peaks and
natures flora and fauna where one can completely relax and tune oneself
for natural beauty, evening free to enjoy the scenic beauty of Kufri.
Later drive to Manali (7Hrs), valley of Gods, is a combination of
natural splendor and rich cultural heritage there are many scenic spots
as you pass by Kullu valley, Beas river, Dashehra maidan etc On
arrival, transfer to hotel. Night stay in Manali. |
| Day 7 - Manali |
| Morning
after breakfast proceed for full day tour of Rohtang Pass – The majesty
of the mountains and the glaciers can be seen at their best, you have
next two hours to enjoy this snowy heaven. Take a sledge ride down the
slopes, try your luck climbing the little snow hills. On you’re
descents to Manali, halt at the Rahalla falls and Solang Valley. The
Magnificent views and natural beauty are a never-ending source of
delight. Also halt at Marhi, Ralha falls, Nehru Kund. Night stay in
Manali. |
| Day 8 - Manali - Dharamshala |
| Morning
proceed for a half day tour of Manali visiting Hadimba Devi Temple –
built in the tranquil and serene woods Vashist Bath, Tibetan Monastery,
and Roerich art Gallery. In the afternoon half day tour of Naggar
Castle and local Bazar. Later drive to Dharamshala (6 hrs). On arrival
transfer to hotel. Night stay in Dharamshala. |
| Day 9 - Dharamshala – Dalhousie |
| Morning
after breakfast local tour of Dharamshala visiting the Official
residence of Dalai Lama the exiled Tibetan Leader, McLeodganj, Palampur
etc.Later drive to Dalhousie (4 hrs), situated at 2039 mts in the outer
slopes of the Dhaula Dhar range with its natural beauty and natural
surroundings. On arrival transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

| Day 10 - Dalhousie |
| Morning
drive to Khajjiar, one of the most scenic saucer shaped Plateau and is
surrounded by dense pine and deodar forests, its beauty has further
been enhanced by a small lake in the center with a floating island and
9-hole golf course here are the other interesting places to cover.
Return to Dalhousie for night stay. |
| Day 11 - Dalhousie – Amritsar |
| Morning
after breakfast drive to Amritsar .Arrive and transfer to hotel.Evening
visit Wagah Border to watch Border Retreat Ceremony The pageant of the
beating of the retreat and the change of guard within handshaking
distance of the Indian and Pakistani forces here makes the most
charming of the spectacles as a daily evening drill. Ascertain the
timings before you leave to see this spectacle since these are changed
seasonally. Wagha is the only land border open between Pakistan and
India. Night stay in Amritsar. |
| Day 12 - Amritsar - Delhi ( By train ) |
| Morning
visit Golden Temple -is the most sacred temple for Sikhs. It is a
symbol of the magnificence and strength of the Sikh people all over the
world. In the evolution of the Darbar Sahib, is entwined the history
and ideology of Sikhism. In its architecture are included, symbols
associated with other places of worship. This is an example of the
spirit of tolerance and acceptance that the Sikh philosophy
propounds.Also visit Jallianwala Bagh- Martyrs’ Memmorial built in the
shape of eternal flame of liberty is situated on the outskirts of
Golden Temple. Here about 1500 and 2000 persons who were attending a
peaceful meeting during the freedom movement fell under the bullets of
the British General Dyer on 13 April 1919 and the city of Amritsar.
Afternoon transfer to railway station to board the train back to Delhi.
Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel. Night stay in Delhi. |
